I would rather get me a real geiger counter to measure my exposure. The exposure meter you reviewed is a one-off meter, I assume? Once you get exposed, there is no use to it anymore and you can throw it away. If there was radioactive material lying around everywhere, you would want to take readings of your environment. A? simple dosimeter won't work in that case.

@kcrotsley At high enough dosages you would pop the KI tablet to cover your thyroid, seal up your house's windows & vents (if you ever want to come back) and then take what you want with you & high tail it as fast as possible to the nearest clear zone. The goal is to get out of the radioactive areas as fast as possible...the only question then becomes where do you draw the line on staying or going? If I lived in Japan that would be a gigantic flashing TIME? TO GO!!!! for me

Even though it slowly builds up and prolonged exposure is what really kills you...even at lower doses prolonged exposure can still give you cancer or serious skin & bone problems or infertility or any host of other effects...but why bother right? You're probably just like EFF IT we're all gonna die someday anyway huh?
